Interesting but some dreadful omissions

Lots of time on dull, boring DFD and no mention of Tibbett who could launch a rocket singing the same song. Tibbett who sang at the Hollywood bowl with NO amplification. Tibbett made the first recording of Porgy & Bess. Introduced contemporary operas. Interesting about the octavists, but nothing about the other extreme with Mado Robin's C above high C. Nothing about Anna Moffo who had her own TV show in Italy. And only one tv clip of Corelli when there's so much incredible live footage and audio.
Essential Watching!!

I used to think that the two DVDs of Antonio Pappano's "Italian Opera", an historical and vocal trip down the centuries of Italian opera, was the best that Premiere had to offer. Now comes this superb four hour plus examination of the human voice in all its ranges, covering both technique and interpretation, and covering many of the greatest singers of the 20th century and today. Through interviews and extended examples, Maestro Pappano demonstrates what the art of singing is all about. Picture and sound are impeccable. This is a "must have" for any opera fan.
